What type of new hairstyle should a black guy get?
I’m a black guy, 18, and I really want a new hairstyle. Something that’s somewhat different and stands out but attractive. I’ve always had short, curly, black hair, typically fades or regular cuts, but now I want something a bit different. I’ve thought about the following:
dreadlocks, twisties, braids, cornrows, mohawk, dying a center strip of hair light brown (like the size of a mohawk) and just recently I’ve thought of having a half bald head, half low cut, kinda like cassie got but a male version.
Any suggestions? What do you think looks best on a black guy?
What are some good hairstyles for a black girl? (without weave)?
Okay, so my friend is black, and she’s got shoulder-length (like barely touching her shoulders) black hair. It’s just straight, maybe a liiitle frizzy at the ends sometimes. So layers is a no-no. She’s had the same haircut for YEARS. Actually, like her whole life. And she wants something new, a new haircut that can work, or some ideas. Pictures would be AWESOME.
And yes she had a perm.

Question (with details) about salon bleached hair and yellow tones?
I dye my hair pretty regularly. I’d say every four months or so. I usually use Feria or Natural Instincts. The last time I dyed my hair I used Feria midnight or something. It was bluish black. That was maybe two months ago. It washed out on me pretty quickly, and soon my hair was a dark brown/black mixture. This past Saturday, in a bout of drunken shenanigans, my roommates decided it would be a good idea to dye my hair blonde. I don’t remember much except waking up with streaky orange/blonde/brown/black hair. That was on Sunday.
On Monday, I immediately sought out a colorist to get this fixed. I went to a Regis salon (Not the best choice, I know) because I knew a girl who’d had her hair fixed by a guy up there, and she said he was good. Up until then, I’d never had any salon work done on my hair.
So. He bleached my hair. Apparently Feria black doesn’t come out very well, but it did strip eventually. He did two separate applications of bleach. I think I must’ve been sitting there for an hour. My hair is certainly a lot lighter. A lot. My hair is short, too. Like, just at the lobes, a little above. Pixie-ish. Anyway, when I left I had some new shampoo and conditioner to help moisturize and another purple toner shampoo? When I left, my hair was still really yellow. I wanted it to be totally white.
I don’t really want to go back to the salon. I’m so used to doing my hair myself. However, this yellow really isn’t doing it for me. My hair looks like straw! What can I do? I tried the toner shampoo, twice. I rubbed it into a really thick lather, even let it sit for five minutes, then rinsed. It didn’t help.
What product can I buy to get my hair all the way to white? Should I wait a little while, since my hair was just bleached on Monday? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Brown might be the way to go with me, but I’m just a little tired of browns and blacks. *sigh*
What do you think of this piece?
I’ve written this piece and wanted to know what you thought of it. Advice and criticism are appreciated and I will apply my findings to my work.
The air was warm that night. It was midsummer and the nights embraced you with the feeling of comfort and belonging.
I walked through to the night garden, careful not to wake any of the others as I slipped out of my room and made my way down the silent hallway. I’ve never seen the night garden and I’ve heard it’s a beautiful vista. Even so, I cannot be caught out after curfew, I had training the next morning.
Oh, my! As I slowly closed the sliding door behind me I felt my heart jump in amazement. The night garden was everything, and more, I hoped it to be, with the sound of water trickling from nowhere, the dim light reflecting off the surface of the pond and the smell of dew lingering in the air.
The warm breeze enveloped me and my black hair danced with it. I started making my way down a winding stone path that led deeper into the zen-like garden. I was surprised when I put my bare foot onto the cool stone.
My honey eyes shining with expectation, I looked around at my surroundings. It wasn’t like anything I’d ever seen before. I started to feel anxious.
After following the path deep into the garden, I stopped. The trickle was nearer than before, but there was another sound floating in the air. It sounded like the faint sobbing of a sorrowful soul.
I follow the sobbing, it took me well off the path but I didn’t care. Why was someone so sad? I soon found myself standing before a marvelous water feature. It was a stone figurine of a woman with long, curly hair and tilting a vase from where water came. I also found a sobbing girl sitting next to the feature, her blonde hair tucked behind her ears and her face flooded.
I leaned towards her and spoke gently. "Are you all right?" I asked.
She jumped when she heard me speak and her deep violet eyes gazed into mine. "Ye. I’m fie, thaks." She could hardly even say the full words, poor dear.
I crouched down beside her. "Are you sure? You don’t look fine." She said nothing. "You’re not fine, are you?"
She just shook her head, making strands of hair fall forward. "I don wan be here. I jus wan go home." She put her head into her hand and her shoulders jumped as she started crying again. She looked about my age, fifteen.
"Where is your home?" I asked, hoping that small talk would lift her spirit.
She wiped her tears off her face, which was glowing rosey pink. "I-I. I don know where ‘ome is." She said, gasping for air.
"You don’t know?" I asked, very confused by that unexpected reply.
"Ye. I ‘ave bee here for as long as I ca rememb." She fixed her gaze on my amulet, an oval, silver pendant with bits of Black Opal patterned into it. "Oh, you’re a human!" She said with excitement rushing to her face.
"Yes, I’m a human. What might you be?" I asked slowly, careful to hide the alarm that just came over me.
"I was a human, but after I snuck out after curfew to come see the night garden I couldn’t find a way back." As she spoke, I noticed something that I hadn’t before. I could see through her!
My hands were shaking now. "But-but, how does that make you unhuman?"
Her face suddenly dropped. "Oh. Well, I found this fountain and when I did someone, I can’t remember who, came to me and told me that as soon as I met a spirit by the fountain I would also become a spirit. And here I am."
Horror spread all over my face, fear making my heart race and whole body shake. I looked down at my hands. I could see through them.
So, how was that? I hope I didn’t make too many mistakes there.
Thanks for reading!
Thank you Lonnie-inu. I found that to be very helpful and now I’ll keep in mind to save exclamations for casual chat and blogs. And about the part that I should of made into two sentences; well, I have a tendancy to drag sentences along. I’ll learn to control that, though.
This piece isn’t bad for a 13 year old, right?
